What Is On Your Mind?

Got back from an awards ceremony my little sister was a part of.
I was very impressed with the diversity among the high school kids getting recognized. 8 of top 10 in their school were POC (Hispanic, Asian, black, and someone with an Italian origin name I can't remember) and 7 of the 10 were female. Its mind boggling to even think that there was once a time teaching some of those kids to read was illegal or that they were denied the right to even go to school.

 

I still feel trashy that I actually like Miley Cyrus' music a little bit, but can't stand her or her music videos. :c I also just read my favorite YouTube comment of all time thanks to one of her videos:

I used to have a genuine dislike of Miley until I was scrolling through tumblr one day and found a gif of some interview she was in. I don't remember the exact words but I could tell that the interviewer was asking her things that upset her to the point where she just closes down and says "No matter what I do people just don't accept me. If I cover up and try to be a serious artist they say 'Miley that's boring, you're so boring' but then if I try to be wild or grown up I'm just........a slut"

The look on her face was so heart breaking. I think the problem with Miley is that she grew up a Disney kid, a good girl, and the public doesn't want their innocent child idol to grow into a sex symbol, but I think at this point Miley is just saying "You know what? fuck the public. This is my career and I'm going to do it the way I want to". I respect her for that.

 

Miley is an artist and she can be whoever she wants, I like Wrecking Ball and nobody can ever take that away from me.

 

figures I get some ideas for projects to work on right before I need to go to bed so I can get up in time for work tomorrow (spoilers, it's supposed to rain/snow and it'll be cold as balls and windy too. yay)
either way I have an awesome idea for a desk organizer/ pencil holder since I now have a small router table from an estate sale and some forstner bits

as for stuff, life is a constant struggle of assholes trying to tear you down for the smallest shit. you can either let them control your life or say fuck it and do what you need to to get by, which I've definitely learned a lot about from listening to some of my ex-marine 3 time felon coworker's stories about growing up. you can let the rest of the world shit on you and let it affect you, or you can get up, put your big boy (or girl) boots on and be an adult and get past it

Wish I had your will power on the hording money front. Although I was good in town today and didn't buy anything I didn't need although wanted.

But time to work and earn more money for studies.

work got cancelled today so I have a 3 day weekend. if only there were a way to find out without having to wake up at 5 am, get ready, drive all the way in and then be told it's cancelled...

In other news, bought a flopped medium Trent in natural to try it out. For $78 it's a pretty good deal, and has a suction cup, too. I am hoping to use it as a warm up toy, so maybe I can take my Ridley's knot someday.

 

It's crazy how rare not getting married seems to be.
