Why do you collect toys? How did you get started?

Just wondering how everyone started collecting / using fantasy toys and why they continued / became part of the community.

My story:
I don't remember how I heard about Bad Dragon first, but years later I heard about it again through the Furry fandom.
When I first started collecting, I had vaginismus (vaginal muscle spasms causing uncomfortable tightness) and even putting a couple fingers inside was uncomfortable. I started with a small Crackers the Cockatrice (2" diameter!) and was actually able to get it in, although painfully. After a few uses I realized it was getting easier... Long story short, by about two months after buying Crackers, I had effectively treated the vaginismus myself and decided to just keep going up in sizes!

I continue to collect toys for a few reasons.
1. It's fun and everything is fascinating!
2. It makes me feel better about my body finding out I can enjoy all kinds of pleasure. As a trans man, this is a big issue for me.
3. My sex drive went way up because of testosterone therapy, and masturbating the exact same way all the time is really boring. I like having options.
4. The community! I love talking about toys, sex, and sexuality with a lot of other open-minded people who don't get weird about it (weird as in becoming sexually aggressive towards me, or assuming that just because I'm talking to them about sex, I must be interested in them).

 

I started collecting toys because @ObeyTheSnarf was judging me.

I bought the toys I have now because I wanted to see what different feelings different shapes would give me.

 

My ex showed me BD a loooooong time ago and I just laughed and said it was super weird. But then I turned 18 and ended up buying my own Large Clayton cause I'm not smart when it comes to sizes (no seriously I'm really not I once bought 7 ft of foam thinking it was only 3 ft). I had some experience with sex shop toys that were around 1.5" in diameter or a little bigger but then once I was introduced to the wonderful world of BD, I just kept collecting.

I like collecting them mostly for the different possible colors. It was always so boring to me how other toys never had a variety when BD was so diverse. Like fuck yea I want a rainbow cock inside of me who wouldn't!? Also I quiet enjoyed the different shapes and the fact I can go and use massive sizes (god bless you Large Flint). Plus being able to have a dragon penis and live the fantasy of being fucked by a dergin is nice too.

 

Well, I used to use makeshift toys and such a whole bunch, which was far from ideal. Wasn't much of a furry, but really liked Pony R34, which brought me to sites like E621 where Bad Dragon runs ads. I checked them out, and despite being slightly weirded out at the time, decided something that's actually meant to be put up your butt was better than things that weren't. I stuck around the forums discussing and eventually became more comfortable with them, continued to get more, bigger toys. I suppose what keeps me buying more is the variety and the continuing challenge of getting bigger and bigger toys. I find myself also enjoying them more and more for the fantasy element they offer.

 

You guys pretty much summed up what I was gonna write...

-I used to make my own and they were terrible...and they ended up costing me MORE MONEY in the end, imagine that.
-You can be an artist for a few minutes if you have no artistic talent like I...or drive yourself crazy because you can't make up your mind on what colour you want.
-They are so off the wall with shapes and sizes that you're left with many possibilities and a way to experiment and find your special spots easier.
-Brings you just a bit closer to a fantasy you might have....normal toys are great but...draenei dickgirls aren't normal down there huehuehuehuehue
-Who doesn't like the idea of a shelf with multilcoloured dicks? I swear when I leave my current place they're staying up and out in the bedroom on a shelf. That may or may not be a problem with my sex drive.

 

When I first came out it was largely because of the furry fandom. I had a plain dildo before long and had made some gay furry friends. On the topic of dildos one friend showed me Bad Dragon, and I filed it away as a weird and painful novelty. A while later my new boyfriend got me another dildo and I started using that, a Tantus Vamp. I immediately wanted my own, in a reasonable size, and somehow made the connection it was probably bad dragon. I went to the site and there it was, and I tucked the idea away. Soon enough I came out to my boyfriend as a furry and as he slowly wrapped his head around the idea, I joined the original forum, asked some questions, and he agreed to getting a werewolf were-able as an experiment. He loved it, me, not so much after the first try, and soon after I told him I wanted to get a small Flint. After that he was very disconnected from the whole process, I picked up a jelly dildo and hated it so much I decided to stick with BD as I was much happier with their squishy silicone. Before too long I acquired a medium tailstretcher which I hated, a medium clayton and large nox, a medium flint, a medium chance, a large clayton, a large chance, and my last acquisition was an XL echo to help me use Poster's XL Chance. I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but having a blog that experiences waves of popularity and has brought me a lot of friends has definitely encouraged me to keep it up

 

I only became aware of BD this past November or December from a friend in a Kik group. At first it was amusing looking at the crazy looking dildos then I started looking at them more seriously, the colors, the shapes, wondering how they'd feel. Then the New Year's sale hit and I got a Nox and a Sugar Star. Nox...holy fuck. One of the best things I've ever spent money on. Sugar is awesome too. Since then I have two customs on the way (5 weeks so far), a Sleipnir that should arrive tomorrow, and I'm buying a Trent from a friend soon. BD's toys are just awesome and the hobby is highly addictive.

 

I guess I started collecting BD toys all because:
1)Was amazed at the pretty colourations and unique styles of BD toys compared to the boring usual toy market.
2) I wanted to finally found out what so amazing about sex and toys. Seeing as normal toys never interested me.
3)Also had a smear test coming up and I didn't want my first pentration down there to be painful. (Even though it still was.) Why not lose it to a dragon.
4)Still have yet to find my perfect toy so the collecting still goes on until I do. ;p

 

I heard about Bad Dragon when I was still a minor. I also wasn't interested in sex at the time, so I disregarded it. (The person who told me about it was a part of BD when it was first starting up, and kind of pushed the notion on me preeeetty heavily).

After that whole thing, I mostly forgot about it, until I went to a con and roomed with one of my best friends. She had brought her entire BD collection, which was quite large, and used the Karabos on me (because it's well known that I love aliens) It was a lot of fun, and helped ease my fear of penetration (since I was raped when I was 14) and I found myself browsing the online store after the con. I ordered my first toy, a medium legacy xenogon, and the rest is history.

I continue to collect BD toys because I have learned so much about my body through using them, and I love variety. I also am a massive toonaphiliac, and custom colored fantasy dildos is an amazing way to entertain some of my favorite fantasies with my cartoon crushes.

 

Oh goodness I remember finding bd after a long search for a tentecale toy because of my wifu Alex Mercer [prototype]. I ended up getting a crackers for my first toy during the kaiju sale then it was just kind of trial and error. Recently I have been keeping my collection around 12 favorites but I keep collecting flints. I think I collect them because it's a weird thing none of my friends do. I just like to give em baths and kind of admire them when not in use. I learned to love myself from using bd toys and I'm kinda proud to be able to use some of my larger ones. I guess you could say I wanted a collection I could actually play with . Hahaha .

I don't fully remember but after so long lurking on BD, and being in a major dry spell plus being in an LDR I started thinking I should start to get myself toys to get my self more ready for him when he dose come over, plus use them on me...and now I have well over 50 dildos + some vibes & kegal stuff (and 2 strap on things, harness & panty style)

I guess I started collecting my toys when I was fascinated about them and I was always interested in them. The designs were eye-catching and I had a thing about not being able to stop looking at them. I grew more and more curious. Then, when I was legal age to own adult material, I quickly spent my saved birthday money on three Frisky Beast products (which I'm still awaiting them).

My collection is small for now but I'm pretty sure it'll keep on growing.
