Yeesh, that sucks dude. I've read about some people trading by also sending eachother a certain amount on paypal and doing the withholding thing (not sure how that works) until the trade goes through on both ends, might be something to do in the future.

Seriously, I agree that trades are a bad idea. There's no accountability with trades.

 

I’m in a similar situation currently. I bought a small Flint from a user on here and sent payment, was told it would be shipped next day, and it wasn’t. I asked for tracking multiple times and they keep making excuses as to why it’s jot shipped yet and are now ignoring me. I feel so helpless.

 

Such a damn shame. I only trade if I know the person, or they have a large online presence/ are a regular like on the bad dragon forum or something.

I wonder if you can do anything since you have their address presumably because you shipped to them?

Really, I would suggest doing the money via paypal thing but I'm sure there would be a way to screw you out of that as well if someone really wanted to :/

 

tried to do a trade with me also, sorry it happened to you thou,,puts a bad taste with dealing with people.

 

Seems like there's only 2 ways to protect yourself while tradeing.


A money trade.
Giving each other and agreed apon value say... $100 ( Of course in your scenario it would have been higher), Through pay pal and then if the other person doesn't deliver you keep their money. Of course each time you do that you eat the pay pal fees.

Simultaneous shipping.
Require that you And the Other Party both ship the package on the same day or at least within one day, And if they don't have it in the mail 6 hours before your package will arrive at the receivers Post Office. Use USPS intercept and Return the package back to your house While in transit Or have it held at their Post Office if possible until they pay you. Unfortunately, Having returned back to her house while in transit cost you sonething like $12 or $16.

the issue isn't with the act of trading, but your lack of insurance. All you have to do is pay each other on PayPal the agreed value. E.g. Send each other $100. Neither of you loose money except the cost of PayPal purchase insurance. Which is what, 2 odd percent. If one of you fail to send to the other, then you can just PayPal claim back your money and you haven't lost out, it's just turned into a normal sale.

So since we are discussion theifs here. NovaLover has run off with my part of a teenie trade and refused to send out the one for me. After making multple excuses which became increasingly outlandish. Thankfully just a teenie but I know they post asking to trade and buy from a lot of people. I would not do business with them. Just figured I'd add this to here to help some people out.

 

Novalover is also their person who scammed me out of $70 and never sent me the small Flint I purchased from them. Buyer beware. Also thank you for contacting me with this info!

 

You can get help from Paypal with people who cheated on a sale. Paypal will refund your money, and remove the money from their account to compensate themselves. If they can't compensate themselves, that bank account and identity will be blocked from Paypal. Get help from Paypal if your purchase went sour!!! That's one of the reasons you pay them a fee (4%). That's why sales are safer than trades (Paypal will referee your transaction).

 

Yeah definately a scammer. Straight up made crazy excuses like downright outlandish and insulting to even joke about. While still messaging people on here about trades and their toys.
