Welp, it's that time again. Season 8 of the Doctor Who premieres this Saturday (on BBC America). I saw the ad for it saying it was at 8... glad I checked to make sure, because I forgot we had dish service so I get it 3 hours earlier (in other words: EST). Right now the have a Doctor Who marathon (I didn't catch the beginning but I'm assuming it started with the 9th Doctor).

    I'm ready. Are you?

BBC America is doing a week long marathon up to the new episodes, all Nu Who. Right now it's the one with Davros.

Anyone know of how to get the newest Doctor without cable (legitimately, without torrenting, etc.)? After watching the recent specials posted to Netflix, I'm pumped to watch :)

I would be ready if I had access to the recent enough episodes to know what's been going on in the show since 2012

Both Netflix and Amazon Prime have recent episodes, if you subscribe to either service, or know someone who does. Alternative is the public library, which may have DVDs.

There's also iTunes, which has the episodes within 24 hours of the show's airing, at least in America.

That's how I got all the 50th Anniversary episodes (and bonus stuff with Season Pass), I also watched it on BBC America, but I got it on iTunes to free up space on the DVR and so I can watch it basically anywhere I have my laptop.

    Move to the UK?
Kidding, sorry, I wouldn't know how. I started Doctor Who on Netflix back in 2009 or so (yes, I went back and watched all the episodes before, then some of the classic DW). This was before there was a big jump in popularity in the states. I also watched the attempted revival with the movie that was in 1996. Got to see the 50th anniversary in theaters. Have all of the 10th doctors Christmas specials, one of Matt Smith's Christmas special, and number of TV episodes all on blu-ray. Not to mention my mini-fridge shaped like the TARDIS.... along with other DW merch.
Yeah... not a fan at all.

I wouldn't have been able to see it if I didn't live with my friend. They got satellite a couple years ago and he barely watches TV, even though he has 3 of them. Likes to have new toys. Insane.

They say you never forget your first Doctor and that's why David Tennant was my favorite. That the whole thing about his wife.

Chris was my first. BBCA just skipped right over him. I didn't care for David, he just didn't seem like The Doctor to me.

I know what you mean... only the opposite. My exposure was David, so when I went back and saw Chris... he didn't FEEL like the Doctor. I've seen Chris in other roles... and they didn't seem like his style. The whimsy is... I dunno, not what I expect from him. I have no problem with Matt Smith (I don't know why so many didn't like him) and I think he did a great job.
It'll be interesting to see what an older Doctor would do. Few more days.

I have to find that other episode that shows Paul McGann's regeneration... I think it was a special or something.

I like Matt. He was great in the role. As for McGann's regeneration....

As for older Doctors, I have the DVD set "The Beginning" which as you might imagine is the beginning of Doctor Who, 3 story's, "An Unearthly Child", "The Daleks", and "The Edge of Destruction".

That was the one! I've been catching up on mini-sodes that I've missed. I have only seen parts on the first episodes on youtube.
