Wasn't able to get out until late tonight, so my available subjects were low, sadly. But still, I went out, and that's what counts for someone with as little motivation as me.

 

Wooow the pictures just get more and MORE stunning! @w@ You also use a Canon 60D?! Aaah I could really chat with you about some stuff; photography related.

See, back in the day I wanted to do photography so bad. I started out with a small t2i and it worked out pretty well for me. Unfortunately at one of our family reunions, my brother threw a water balloon at me. >__> Hit me right in the chest and burst all over my camera and completely ruined it. While I was still in the whole "I wanna do lots of photography" zone, I begged and begged to upgrade to the 60D. I finally made the upgrade, but for awhile now I've sorta been... Not interested in photography? The pictures I take I just hate and it seems like something is sorta messed up on my camera? I don't know, maybe I'm just dumb. ; ;

It would be great to have a partner in crime with photography!

 

Nice sky photography! We'll have to get you up to my cottage during a new moon some time, I was there for one a few weeks ago and as I lay in the dirt, staring at the spine of the milky way, I saw a shooting star fly across my vision. I bet you'd get some great shots :3

 

Thank you so much ^3^ Making me all blushy x3 And eyup! It's my first DSLR, before this I was just using a little point and click camera for the longest time. My dad was the one to pass along the shutter bug fever, and about 2 years ago he and my mom got together to buy me the 60D for my birthday. And I would love to chat! Though admittedly, I am not to knowledgeable about all the intricacies of photography, I just kind of fiddle with the thing, trying stuff out and seeing what does what x3

And oh dear >.< That must have been terrible! I can't imagine how I'd feel if my baby got ruined like that!
I know what you mean about not feeling interested. For a while, I couldn't bring up the motivation to actually go out at take pictures, and even now, I only go out rarely.
I doubt it's that you're dumb *hug* I know that for a while I had accidentally fiddled with a few settings that were throwing off all of my pictures, so it could be that. Or maybe it's just a sort of familiarity with what you have around you? Like you're tired of the subject matter? I might suggest going out somewhere you normally don't and just walk about, taking as many pictures as you can. I did that with a little park that had all these caves you could climb around in. I got to see and experience stuff I hadn't before, and catching it with my camera reawakened my passion with it x3
And If you seek a partner in crime, I can certainly pass along my resume xD

 

I like this plan :3 Though I have a feeling we might get distracted from the sky if we were both up there, hehe x3

 

Aw well you're welcome! You have fabulous pictures and it really looks like you know what you're doing! Do you have a Flickr account set up at all or post your photography elsewhere online? :0 I've no idea what I am doing with my camera! I don't really understand the settings of the DSLR, as I forgot most of mine from the T2i. .v.' That's the reason I feel so dumb! The T2i settings were much simpler compared to the 60D.

When I take pictures now with my 60D, it seems like my pictures are super grainy? Or... I pixelated? I don't know what I did, or how to fix it (I've even reset my camera and to still no avail)! I love taking landscape pictures and portraits of my dogs. There's nothing that I enjoy more is following my dogs around with a camera. Don't mean to boast, but here is an old picture I took of my little Sofie before my camera went all wack!

Hehe, Well, I can guarantee you, that I only have marginal knowledge of what I'm doing with this big black beauty of a camera x3 But thank you again for saying they look good :3 That kind of comment makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, it's a good motivator, lol. I really aught to read through my manual, really get to know this beast's ins and outs sometime. Maybe I'll work on it over the week...
And Oh dear, hmm, well the only thing I can think of would be quality you have the camera set to. But even then, I would imagine a reset would fix that.
I love taking pictures of plants and animals, myself, and landscapes are fun when I can take them. I really want to get a macro lens someday for proper up close shots!

Thank you! I'm glad you like her and the picture. ; ; I should probably read my manual too, but I am always too stubborn to read the manual for ANYTHING. One thing I don't like about most photographers when I go on forums to get help and stuff, they act all elitest like: "Maybe y'all should just read the manual and figure shit out on ya own."

A macro lense would be sweet! I've been trying to get my hands on one for awhile now, but they've all slipped away. :<

I've got that "I can just figure it out myself" thought that goes through my brain when ever I get something new. x3 And I know what you mean, thankfully I had a buddy in high school who Loooooved photography, like had 15 different cameras loved it. So if ever I had a question I could go to him, and then regret it an hour later as he was still telling me about the cameras x3

 

I'm never gonna disagree to take pictures with a cute boy in the dark when *he* thinks there's even the slight possibility there will be fun distractions :3

@Grimmyr Graininess in your photos could be the image quality settings. You'd probably want the highest JPEG setting available. Setting the quality to RAW is even better, but you have to be committed to do post-editing or at least converting the photos back to JPEG before you can post photos anywhere. But if you're not going to bother with editing, I think shooting in RAW will make absolutely no sense.

Another thing you want to check is your ISO setting. A higher ISO value (ex. 800 or 1600) will cause graininess. Try to set it to ISO 400 (or lower if you are in bright light conditions).

Boring explanation ahead! A high ISO setting makes your camera more sensitive to light, so you will be able to get better exposures in dark settings (like at night). But as I said, it also make the image grainier. It's a bit of a balancing act!
