favorite video game music

I know there are quite a few avid gamers on this thread from a wide array of genres, but one thing I think can make or break a game is the music used in it. this is a thread to post songs from games that really made the experience for you, or that you really liked or that gave you chills.

these are all I can think of right off the top of my head. I loved metroid prime 2 echos a lot as a kid, I guess i had a bit of a transformation/corruption fetish before becoming a furry XD

 

can't forget skyrim, but that goes without saying



and since I think this guy does a much better job...

 

Hey, if you're doing skyrim you have to include Masser. It's one of my favourites, from anything.



in no particular order...

 

Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, and Diablo 2. The soundtracks fit the atmosphere of these games perfectly.

 

One of the most rocking NES game themes from one of the most unlikely of places. Pictionary for the NES

Another weirdly good one. The Woods and the Goddess.

 

Woo! I am *so* checking these out/adding to this as soon as I'm not stuck on my phone. :B

 

A clear favourite from the series. I will never forget this one.
Honorable mention to Song of Healing.

 

Two come to mind. Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer intro melts my heart. And the Unreal soundtrack.

Castlevania never fails at being awesome. I have pretty much every OST ever made and some other odd remix CDs as well.

People hate on Castlevania 64 a lot but it;s a good game and the music is probably my favorite from the whole series, not counting the NES stuff.

 

My favorite video game music comes from some of the older Metroids, and a few of the current (heck; they all have good OSTs!). I really love the guys at Overclocked Remix who do... well, awesome remixes!

 

Spiderman and Venom: Maximum Carnage has a damn great soundtrack, including a kickass rendition of Black Sabbaths "The Mob Rules".
Been forever since I played it, but Battletoads was pretty awesome as well... I'll throw a few links up a little later, it's sort of difficult on mobile.
