    Cross-posted from the BD forums after it was brought to my attention other creators may not want to share their secrets. Here's hoping someone will take pity on this silicone noob. T-T

    I've been getting into sculpting lately and would like to try molding/casting some of the stuff I've made (i.e. dicks). >w< After spending many, many, manymanymany hours of my life watching/reading Smooth-On, YouTube, and forum tutorials, I still have some silicone molding/casting questions.

    -What should I use for my mold? I've decided on Ecoflex and Dragonskin for actual casting as they seem the most popular and versatile, but I'm not sure what silicone or firmness would be best for the mold itself (I'm leaning towards Mold Star30).

    -How likely is it that my original models will break when removing them from the mold? They're made of medium firmness Monster Maker clay, and I have a feeling they may not make it through the demolding process unscathed. ;-;

    -Is there a way to reliably bypass degassing? While I'm not opposed to getting a degassing chamber up and running, it would be nice not to have that extra expense.

    -On that topic, any suggestions on a degassing set up? I know it needs to pull 29 in. of mercury or below 25,000 microns, but I'd love some actual brand suggestions.

    Any suggestions or references to other forums would be super appreciated!

    I just discovered Dragon Skin 10 NV... I think I may go with that for molding since it has a really high... stretchability? If that's the right word?

    I am very interested in seeing replies too!

    I think I've heard of people liking rebound 25 for mold making.

    Be careful with 10NV it can still trap bubbles in larger pours. Recommend placing on vibrating bed.

    Also your clay is most likely not to survive demolding if you used a standard block mold. Glove molds are more gentle on their subjects
