Honestly I prefer the railroad spike knife you made. It was kinda....I dunno, what's the word. You don't see that kinda thing every day, and it has a certain feel to it.

aesthetically forged blades and stock removal blades tend to look pretty different. I do like railroad spike and other salvage blades because you can see that they were made from a material that served another purpose before it became a knife, but the problem with that is the alloy composition of the finished blade. that railroad spike knife has visible banding in the steel from where it has different material phases, some is steel, some is iron, all in all it doesn't have enough carbon to properly harden, which is why I didn't temper it after it was quenched since it needs to be as hard as that material will allow to even keep a sharp edge for a short time, even the "high carbon" railroad spikes people try to sell on amazon and ebay tend to have a lower carbon content than most mild steel. the stock I'm using for that little kwaiken is 1095 high carbon, if it's heat treated properly it'll take a ridiculous deadly sharp edge and it can hold up to a lot of abuse, however, if hardened properly it can become so hard that the stresses of material shrinkage while cooling can cause it to crack and possibly even shatter if it isn't tempered soon enough after quenching. it does work okay for forging, but I still need to get a propane tank and regulator before I can start using the forge I worked on. I'll probably save up this summer once I start working again and get a little heat treat kiln since you can get much more accurate results from one of those than just eyeballing the glow from blackbody radiation and using a magnet to check for critical temperature.

also as for looks, right now it looks shiny, by the time I'm done it'll hopefully have a hamon and a nice patina so it won't look so new

Welp, first day is under way and despite being exhausted, I'm very excited to explore the city.
Also no offense to anyone living in Indiana, but your state is boring as all hell. There's nothing to see and hardly anything to do.

Why is everyone talking about SL? I got us a really cool clubhouse on SL, but nobody would use it so I let it run out.

    Awesome :D
I got a boyfriend since yesterday evening. I feel kinda bad for being unable to discuss the whole poly/non monogamy thing because we were too drunk..
    He's awesome though :D

I just now got back from a quick 4 mile bike ride. Had to pay my storage rent and pick up a little something we planed for dinner tonight. We thought to make Philly cheese steak, only with Polish sausage instead of beef.

Anyways, I'm feelin' my oats, so to say. Or I'm rather 'Randy' right now.

I don't know about the others, but I'm not on SL often enough?

Heyo Snaer! Hope you're doing well!

Just make sure you bring it up before it becomes a "You never told me about this!" kinda scenario :p

Well you see, as a Dj and escort i have to be where the crowd is. So I only hang out in other places on my relaxed account. My main account with my shark generally lives in clubs although she has been invited to several houses to stay and I think been proposed too like 10 times XD.

    Never played Second Life.

Though if they somehow integrate it with the Vive, I may look into it.
