Boyfriend #1 studied culinary, he's a great cook and has worked in a number of restaurants, but ultimately left it to pursue his real passions of environmental science and geography. I'll give you the advice his favourite chef gave him. You have to be willing to put it before everything else in your life, before family, before friends, it can eat all of your time, and you can be married to your job. No matter how much you love cooking, you have to be willing to love it more than other things that also matter if you want to make it in the industry.

@RedVixenFur @SnowLycan @vahaala I should mention my sister doesn't live with my mom. A fact for which my mom is probably pretty grateful right now.

I should also mention another part of the story I completely forgot.

My sister's favourite thing to do in Vegas was walk down the strip and talk to the performers. Those people apparently won't even look at you if you don't tip. At some point while they're walking aimlessly, a guy comes up to them trying to sell them wristbands to a club on the strip. He's giving them all kinds of details about the party taking place there that night at 10 PM, he also mentions that Bruno Mars is supposed to be there, and describes the exact door he'll be coming through and when.

My mom absolutely will not give him the $80 he wants for the wristbands. My sister on the other hand is all "MOM. BRUNO. MARS. WE HAVE TO GO. IT'S VEGAS." They finagle the guy down to $20 per wristband and my mom still refuses. She tells me sister, that if she wants to go so badly, she can pay for them out of her own money. So my sister gives him the cash. The guy assures them they'll have a great time.

They end up walking to the club during the day to check it out. My sister approaches somebody and asks about the wristbands. The guy looks at her with a mix of pity and amusement and says "We don't sell wristbands. This is a very exclusive club. Don't ever buy anything from somebody on the streets in Vegas."

There's the reason I didn't continue studying to become a chef or something along those lines. I understood that you need to have a fiery passion for food to be able to pull it off and be good at it. That's what I lacked.

My power has gone out 3 times today. I'm starting to get mildly annoyed.

Yeah, I know that I'll have to work my ass off like never before… but if theres one thing that i could work that hard for, it would be cooking… It's the only thing that has stayed a prime interest of mine for my whole life. Serving people food and having them enjoy it is the greatest form of happiness to me, but I'm never completely happy, always wanting to do better, work harder, bring more to the table (that expression works literally in this case). I'm not happy with what I'm doing now, other prospects or interests have dwindled or vanished completely, so i'm looking to go into the one thing that has always made me happy and that I've always had a passion for, and thats cooking.

EDIT: THIS POST HAS ME ALL FIRED UP NOW!!!!!!! IM GONNA GO GET COOKING!!!!!!!
(It seems like every expression can be taken literally when it comes to cooking :p)

So because of last night it is evident something is going on with me and I am hiding it from myself. Or simply just keeping it in which is no better, so I am hoping to go see the student counselor at the college again.

And also because it seems everyone at work is getting promoted and bringing in a new person and immediately put them in a "higher" position. Like fuck my work place. I am told I am a great worker, but not once have I received any award or anything. mind you my 2 years at the place is in April...a sad fact is I haven't been putting a lot of effort into my work for several months too. And I know I need to cut that out.

I feel like there is just too much going on with me. I broke down last night of course but also the night before because....well I just wat to figure out what it is I need to do and MOTIVATE myself to change.

Another random (but obvious to those already good at it) thought about drawing : taking it slow, with a lot of breaks helps. My piece is almost ready, some coloring is left to do, and then I'll upload it to my artsy thread :p It's nothing furry though.

Also somehow my sex drive has risen highly in last week. I don't know why D: But I never felt so much urge to fap, even after doing it twice in the morning lol.

At least you are starting to feel a bit better and started to do things even if some are a bit more creative than others. LOL

It's not so much about putting the work in as it is about making it the priority. Boyfriend #1 still loves cooking and making a little meal for me and our roommate, or cooking for a dinner party, or cooking for my parents, or showing up at a holiday dinner and taking over the kitchen are his ways of getting the joy out of cooking without having to make something he loves become a chore. I think, more than the word of caution from his chef, that was what pushed him out of the field. Something he loved for the joy of it had become something he worked hard at just to get by, and it wasn't as rewarding. The fun of cooking gave way to the necessity of it.

Also apparently I have to hide you from boyfriend #1 before he realizes his soul mate is out there and he's so cute to boot!

This statement is so true and describes my current situation. I used to be so passionate with my field of work but now that I've been doing it everyday more or less for the last few years, I'm bored.

That's what dragon dicks are for though, they'll never get old.

my school's newspaper really ran an article on the history of women in nazi germany and their role in the holocaust with a focus on "how independent and equal they were in the war effort" and "how brave they were to stand up and take an active role in politics"

no, just no. they're actually siding with nazis just because they were women nazis. they're still nazis

The like is for the dragon dicks line, not for the loss of passion.

Sir Ken Robinson says there are three types of people. People who do what they're good at, people who do what they love, and people who love what they're good at. The first group have to find hobbies and passions to make life interesting. The second group have to be resourceful to make their passion into something they can survive doing. The third group contains people like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

Most of us are in that first group. The key is to do what we're good at so we can afford to do what we love. A lot of us say we'll save it for retirement, but life is really, really short and the things you love doing are worth doing whenever you can. You have to make them a priority too.

He's just been quiet since he got laid off. Mostly just spending time with friends and getting back into stuff he didn't have time for, ie games, firearms, etc. He's alive and shaggy!

He only really comes on the forums to get secondhand toys.

    Dinner was fun tonight :D
Partner's younger sister was pleased with her gifts of books and $20 bucks (not bad for an 11 year old)
