So I was poopin around youtube when I noticed a pokemon go related channel I sub to had posted video and in it the dude explained that people are up in arms because Niantic decided to block accounts on rooted (android) and jalbroken (apple) phones and I was like...... why ya'll mad? Apparently they did it to block people who use 3rd party software to cheat in the game, now of course this won't do anything to people who cheat using PC mods, but Niantic can't control all platforms. The reason I made this post is that I'm genuinely confused about the thought process these outraged people have.

I have illegally modified my phone thereby voiding the warranty and nullified any obligation for my phone carrier and device manufacturer to service my device, but I DEMAND, that my device get to have all the benefits and access privileges as regular devices???

How does that make sense? What incredible needs do you have that your regular device just isn't giving you that you're willing to trust downloads from total strangers and just hope that they aren't collecting information from the tool you use in your personal, business and financial life?

Because people don't like doing work for what they want.

If there's a shortcut, people will pay money for it

I'd say that the percentage of players on cracked devices who use cheating software is probably relatively small compared to the total number of players using cracked phones. Basically, Niantic is saying "Well, if you can possibly cheat, we're going to just assume you are cheating and ban you. Sure hope you didn't spend any money in the app, or it's tough tits for you!"

That's like WoW banning your account for buying a Macbook and wiping iOS to install Linux. "You have more control over your device, so we figure you're gonna use that to cheat. Enjoy your ban."
