I was going to politely point out the the poster, as he's had so few replies, that his asking price, before postage, is 51 euros above the new price and even if he's trying to recoup import taxes, he may want to recognise that, but £120(45%) off is quite a place to start negotiating from .

Still, if it was Large, rather than XL, I'd be tempted to snap it up if it was going for anywhere near that; I could hollow it out and store my current toys in it .

 

I've calculated all my asking prices with the full cost of ordering a new custom from BD in mind, as that is what you will have to pay if you want the thing but don't want to buy from me.

You apparently forgot some important components in the calculation if you end up with my price being about €50 higher.

- Base price of Sleipnir XL at BD is $200.
- Suction Cup Add-on is $10
- Cosmic Nebula coloration premium is $30 while the color is not "on sale"
- Shipping of said XL Sleipnir to my address in Germany (which is nothing fancy like an island or something) with the cheapest shipping option is $43.64 right now, FedEx Int'l Economy
=> Total $$$ dropped at BD: $283.64
But the story is not over here. You still have to pay VAT and customs on the toy once it arrives in Europe. For Germany that's 19% + 6.5%, and the base for both calculations is the total amount spent, i.e. including shipping costs:
=> Total $$$ burned for taxes: $72.32 (of course we pay this in €, but keeping this in $ here to sum this up easier at the end)
And then, both FedEx and UPS, no matter which one you choose, will charge you a fee for the service of handling import customs for your parcel (you cannot simply have them drop off the package at your local customs office so you can handle customs yourself - they don't do that), which starts at about €12 plus taxes (€14.87) and gets even higher if the import is of higher value (they'll charge 2.5% then). For just the Sleipnir it stays at the starting price though.
=> €€€ dropped at FedEx/UPS: €14.87

=>>> Total costs of buying this exact XL Sleipnir when sitting in Europe: $283.64 + $72.32 + €14.87
= $355.96 + €14.87
=~ €312.24 + €14.87 (calculating with current market exchange rate of 1.14 - if you pay via PayPal, it's actually much lower as PP offers much worse exchange rates)
= €327.11

Now compare this to my asking price of €250 plus shipping.

Needless to say, I'm not even remotely considering that offer.

Thank you for explaining, it helps. I didn't recognise the special colouration, although I did note that the VAT for the base model that raises it to $220, I assume that's the increase the page includes.

The export expenses really are a pain.
