What Is On Your Mind?

Today has been quite a long day. Had to work 11-7 cause my manager was sick as a dog and needed a 3rd person for the morning. Now I've got a little more of a paper done and am going to the local huge fair that's literally right next to my apartment. Fun times are to be had.

 

that's a big problem for me as well, anything I make I make because I think it looks good. since I have to do a gallery show at some point to graduate with an art degree I'm gonna make some piece that just looks cool but give no information on it and give it some mysterious pretentious title like "trigger warning orange" or "human condition rX" and just watch everyone BS about what they think it means while laughing inside because it literally means nothing.

I just got back from the reception for an art show one of my teachers asked us to go to. there were about 30 pieces there, 3 of which I actually thought looked good and weren't just some overly poetic symbolic shit that'll either get thrown away or stuffed in a box once the show is over. 90% of the people there were just talking to their friends and drinking wine or beer and not looking at or talking about the art. I only got to read 2 of the artist's statements because everyone just roots themselves to the floor to talk and stand blocking everything.

basically I'm an antisocial artist, I like art, but I hate the "art community"

 

My mom does photographic art (takes pictures, and uses photo manipulation tools to make it look completely different) and has had her art put up in Starbucks (I know, I know) where she lives. No real meaning behind her works, she just makes it look how she thinks it looks good.

 

I think the major difference comes down to being between working world artists and academic artists. real world artists tend to do it as a hobby because they enjoy it or try to make some extra profit. academic artists do it to try to spread a message or use their past emotional/psychological baggage

I want to be done with this fucking paper...I hate writing academic papers, I will be so glad when I don't have to write another one....

 

Thank goodness my days are over from doing academic papers. But hang in their darling. You'll get through it.

I really wish I never start so many projects all because I often forget to finish them.

 

Spoiler: really weird dream I had

had a really weird dream last night. a really nice intelligent giant spider moved into a village and set up a tailor shop and everyone didn't trust it until they started to see how expertly made its clothes were. they continued to buy clothes from it for years before people in the village started to disappear and the animals in the area left. then they found out the spider went out to hunt animals and people at night to paralyze them and skin them alive and tan their hides to make the leather for its clothing. even after they found out they kept buying from it and just made sure to lock their doors at night and open a tourist camp. weird dream is weird XD

also the spider has a nice scottish accent

 

This sounds like a good short comic piece.

 

I'm sort of debating turning it into a short story, maybe even an illustrated children's storybook, lol
"and don't go out after dark young child, or you two will end up stitched and conditioned and part of a lady's purse or gentleman's overcoat"

 

Actually sounds like a well written horror movie which we'll never have in a few years XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

 

Actually maybe like those French short animations. That only last a few minutes but have some major impact.
