But doing the work for the fried rice means you get paid so you can buy and eat the fried rice!

But then eating your employer would make you unemployed...

I'm seeing a therapist for a number of life issues, some of which involve dealing with my partners and getting older, and she has suggested a few times that I get tested for some form of high-functioning autism. I don't want to. I can live with a diagnosis of ADHD. I don't have problems that I can plan around, and usually my primary is good about not pushing too hard when I'm busy arranging my environment (including my temporal environment, i.e. my schedule) to avoid freakouts, power-outs, and manging the depressive end of my ADHD (which comes with a small bipolar component).

I don't want to because I'm much older than most people here; I've made it this far with a mixture of Buddhism, Stoicism, cognitive-behavior therapy, and already a high awareness of my limitations. I don't feel different from other people, even if I don't get what's going on around me all the time. And I definitely don't want any medications. My brain is pretty well-organized instrument at the moment.

Civil Disobedience (being civil while disobeying police orders during protests) is also part of a great American tradition. The argument being made is that civil disobedience is, by definition, civil, and there's no need for the police to ramp up the tension by showing up wearing armor, carrying grenade launchers filled with tear gas, or spraying protestors with high-pressure hoses.

Just as there was no need for unarmed men and boys to be killed because they weren't "compliance." Since when was "not complying with a police order" a criminal offense punishable by death without judge or jury? And why do black people suffer that punishment at the astounding rate of 22 times more often than white people?

I'm a man, and I live with two adult women and my two daughters, and I have lovers who don't live with me whom I see on a fairly regular basis. The biggest fucking lie in that entire article is right here: "The rules men are expected to live by are never clearly explained." That is a lie, and it has always been a lie. It will never be anything but a lie. It is a deliberately crafted lie, created by alpha players, to make you feel small and powerless, a victim, and then to make you feel righteous and aggrieved in your victimology. You have all the power you need, you're just refusing to use it.

When it comes to how to interact with a woman, well, did you ask? More importantly, did you listen? Did you treat the words of a woman with the same weight and conscious consideration that you treat those of a fellow man? Do you enter into conversation with her as an equal, with the assumption that she has similar wants and needs to your own?

I am not particularly handsome, or rich; I've never known how to dress myself; given my situation, I drive the world's most obvious momwagon ever; I'm definitely not athletic. I'm a computer science geek who gets turned on if my partner knows what an endofunctor or a catamorphism is used for. And yet, I seem to have done all right. I start off assuming that a woman likes sex. She doesn't have to be coerced into it. You don't have to be coy about it. Each woman is a human being with her own needs and wants.

I sat down recently with a woman whom I met at a writer's circle. We'd been flirting for a while, and things seemed to be getting serious. I came right out and said, "So, if we're flirting with intent, and I think we are...?" She nodded. "Then you should know that if anything I do bothers you, just say 'no' or 'stop.' I'll listen for your 'no' and I'll stop the moment you say it, and we can talk about it. So, Is there anything I should know about you? What do you like, and more importantly, is there anything I absolutely shouldn't do because it would bother you?"

You should have seen her eyes as they went wide and bright. No man had ever been this straightforward before. Men are such fucking idiots. They think that they have to be able to read her mind and know what she likes. I just asked. It was so goddamn liberating for her to know that everything was out in the open. There were hundreds of pleasurable discoveries to be made in bed, but with one sentence I had cleared away the entire fucking minefield of possible crises, unspoken agendas, uncomfortable fears. We'd talked. She later told me I was probably the best sex she'd had in years.

This is a skill. It can be learned. It takes practice. Even that article admits that the worst thing that could happen is embarrassment. You're actually that terrified of a woman giggling at you that you'd abandon half the human species and spend the rest of your life wanking to porn? Woman up, dude. Stop being so lazy.

I'm not from the US, so that's not necessarily a tradition I am strongly involved in.

I'm not sure if it's not clear, but I am completely for the citizens in this situation.

    I don't drink, so I can't get day drunk.
Although it would probably be cheaper than driving around all day like I do.
